Kallen the Fish

We are finally all better...for the moment. Now that spring is finally coming, I hope the colds and flu will leave us alone for awhile. Wouldn't that be nice.

Below you'll see some pictures of Kallen during his swimming lessons. We thought he was finally old enough to enjoy them and so we enrolled him in beginning lessons about a month ago.

At first, he was a little apprehensive, but he was a trooper and became braver every time he went. We were so proud of him! By the end, he loved going to his class and was sad when they ended.

Don't you love this smile? So cheesy, but oh so cute. Kallen is excited to start up some more classes this summer. I can't wait to see my little fish in action.

Out of Commission

We've been pretty sick around here lately. Isn't this such a sad picture?

Both boys had the flu pretty bad about 3 weeks ago, and they both just hung out on the couch for a few days. When Weston isn't constantly running around and destroying stuff, you know he must be feeling pretty sick. After the flu finally ended after 2 weeks, it was followed by two horrible colds. This morning, I thought that we had finally gotten over everything and my little family might have a break from being sick, however, I was wrong. Kallen woke up throwing up again. So I guess we'll be spending some more quality time on the couch and watching movies. Hurray!

Primary Extraordinaire

Kallen gave his first talk in Primary today, and Tyson and I were so proud of him. He was super cute and did such a good job. He wasn't scared at all and even memorized it. Everyone thought he was one of the cutest little kids up there because he knew his talk so well and smiled throughout the whole thing.

His talk was on how Heavenly Father talks to us through our Prophets. Here he is holding up a picture of President Monson, which he used in his talk.

For the Grandparents, here is his talk written out. I did it a little differently, where I would say a question or phrase before Kallen and then he would respond to it. So its kind of like a little dialogue between the two of us...I consider it more like team teaching. :) He got to hold up pictures that went along with his talk, which he loved. Well, here it is:

Mom: Heavenly Father loves us very much and wants to help us throughout our lives. How does Heavenly Father talk to us?

Kallen: He talks to us through the scriptures (picture), the Holy Ghost (picture) and through our Prophet (picture).

Mom: We didn't always have a prophet here in the Latter days, who was our first prophet?

Kallen: Joseph Smith (picture)

Mom: When Joseph wanted to know what he should do, what did he do?

Kallen: Joseph prayed and Heavenly Father and Jesus came down and talked to him. (picture)

Mom: Right, what did they tell him?

Kallen: They told him to restore the gospel and about the Golden Plates.

Mom: Now that we have Prophets on the earth again, who is our Propeht today?

Kallen: President Monson (picture)

Mom: If President Monson knew what our Heavenly Father wanted us to do, should we listen to him?

Kallen: Yes we should.

Mom: When can we listen to President Monson?

Kallen: Through the Friend magazine and at Conference. (Friend Magazine)

Mom: Knowing that Heavenly Father can talk to us, how does that make you feel?

Kallen: I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love me. (picture) In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

I heart Lowes' Build and Grow

Have any of you ever taken your kids to Lowes for their Build and Grow program? It is awesome! Every other Saturday, Lowes offers free workshops for your kids, where they build cool things like cars, trains, treasure chests, etc. The kids get free goggles, a free work apron, and also a badge (kind of like what Scouts get) when they finish their project. Kallen is just getting to the age where he really enjoys making these with us. So far, Kallen and Weston have made a Monster Truck, Racing Cars, Christmas Ornaments and Music Boxes. They really are so cool, and I love making them with the kids. Above, the kids are showing off their Valentine Music Boxes.

Weston is Googly for Goggles

We have a few pairs of goggles around here. Some are from Lowes, and some are from wonderful cousins. Kallen was never one to enjoy dressing up, but Weston loves it!

He wears these goggles around for hours at a time and loves to do all types of random things in them. I mean, who doesn't wear goggles when preparing a scrumptious meal.

Or giving someone a back massage.

Or even reading a favorite book with Daddy.

What a funny kid.

It's Snowing, It's Blowing

Last year, I only remember Moses Lake getting snow 2 or 3 times, and every time we only accumulated a couple inches. Also, each time, the snow soon melted afterwards and wasn't much of a hassle. So I was expecting the same thing this year. Boy was I wrong! This year it snowed a ton, and then the last big snow we got in Thanksgiving stayed around until mid-January! I couldn't believe it. I love it when it snows, but I must admit, I'm not use to having that much snow, and sadly it got a little old after awhile. The boys however loved it. The hardest part was making them stay inside when the weather got too cold. One night it was negative 17! Too cold to play in. However, the days we did get out, were lots of fun. Next year will be even more fun now that we figured out where some good sledding hills are. I hope all of you enjoyed your winter!

Don't you love the flowing snot from Weston's nose? He pretty much has had that for the past 4 months.
