Shaking His Baby Booty

Kallen's favorite show of all time is Baby Mozart. Whenever we put it on, he gets a huge smile on his face. This is the only show he enjoys and the only thing he'll watch. Now that he is up and cruising around, he has started doing something new while watching Baby Mozart...dancing! We've had to put a chair in front of the TV now, since he hasn't learned that he isn't suppose to touch the buttons, and now he holds on to that and shakes his stuff. I thought it was funny one night, so I took this video.

Bathtime Aerobics

One of Kallen's favorite things to do in the bath is to kick his legs as fast as he can. Whenever he does this, he gets water everywhere! Our floor gets soaked, Tyson gets soaked and I get soaked. But hey, we bear through it because Kallen just loves it. However, as you can see from this video, it sometimes has a down side. Occasionally the little guy forgets to keep his mouth shut and gets a mouthful of water.



Aren't baths just so much fun? Sometimes I think baths are more fun for the parents than the kids. To entertain ourselves, we decided to give Kallen a mohawk and a gotee using bubbles. Pretty cool huh? I love some of the looks he gave us as I was taking pictures. What a funny little man.

Husband Scores

Last Saturday, Tyson was asked to help out with someone's move. When he got there, it turned out it wasn't a family moving, but a charity group's inventory. Upscale funiture stores in the Seattle area donate new and unused furniture to this group so they can then sell it at a discount and give all the proceeds to battered women and children. This group isn't run by our church, but the wards in the area often help them out whenever they need to move stuff from their storage units. So that is what Tyson was up to Saturday morning, moving tons of beds into a huge semi-truck...yep, semi-truck. Needless to say, he was exhausted when he was finished. But hey, it was all for service right? Want to know something else? In this case, he also got something for his service...a free king sized headboard!!! Hurray! We've never gotten one, so this was a big surprise for me. It's actually a very cool sleigh bed.

Some Harvest Fun

Today we went to the Fall City Farm with our friends Toby, Leah and their new little boy Boedy. He's only about 3 weeks old! Weren't they all troopers to come with us on our field trip? I'm glad that they did, we had so much fun. It was the perfect autumn day...and it was so warm.

When we got there, Tyson saw that they had a little doughnut stand where they were making and cooking the doughnuts right in front of everyone. Well, we just had to have some. Then to wash it all down, we got some of their fresh apple cider. Kallen and Tyson loved this...which means we might need to go back and buy some more. After our little snack, we hit the pumpkin patch.


After much searching, we finally chose our pumpkin!

When we were picking out our pumpkin, Kallen got to ride in the wheel barrel. He is so cute, and made so many funny faces. Besides some pumpkins, we also got some corn stalks to decorate our front door.

Fun Times in Oregon

This happened a month ago, but I still wanted to post some pictures. The day after Kallen's first birthday, we headed off to Oregon. There Kallen celebrated his first birthday again with his other Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. He got so many new toys and had so much fun. They sure know how to spoil a kid there. Kallen also enjoyed playing with his cousin Dan. Unfortunately, I forgot that I brought our camera, so there are no pictures of this. Sorry!

After spending a few days in Eugene, we then traveled to the Oregon Coast with Grandma Hill. It was so much fun. The little inn we stayed at was right on the water, and it was sooo pretty. The good news is that when we got there, I found our camera, which means we have pictures. Hurray! Here they are.

While we were there, we did a lot of window shopping and also got to eat at the Sea Hag. Isn't that the greatest name? Here is Tyson and Kallen standing outside of it.


Kallen loved playing in the giant family room at the inn. It allowed him to crawl everywhere and discover so many new things. He also discovered that standing up against the windows and looking out was super fun.



We also got to spend some time on the beach. I thought Kallen might like the beach a little more than last time, however, this wasn't the case. Again, he hated getting sand on his hands and feet. Take a look at this picture below. He is trying his hardest to keep his hands and feet out of the sand. What a silly boy.


Although this was his initial reaction, Kallen eventually didn't mind the sand so much. Kallen was happy as long as he was walking on the sand and not crawling. So for the rest of the time, Tyson and I took turns walking around with him.





Our trip to the beach was short, but very fun. We can't wait to go back. Maybe next time, Kallen will enjoy the sand a little more.

Scary Spiders

I don't know why, but spiders have started to invest our house for the past few days. Maybe they are trying to get me in the Halloween mood by making their presense known. I don't know. Either way, I'm not liking it.

On Monday night, after the Kallen baby went to sleep, Tyson and I decided to watch a movie. Blades of Glory...kind of funny but not a movie I'd rush out to buy. Anyway, as we were watching the movie I just happened to see something scurrying across our floor which caught my eye. What was that? I thought. I had a feeling that it was a spider, but I am always paranoid and think I see or feel spiders crawling on me all the time, so I initially thought that I should ignore this. But my paranoia got the better of me and I turned on the light as quickly as possible. I thought I saw the creature crawl under our coffee table, so I had Tyson put the movie on pause and then move the table. All of sudden I screamed, because the biggest spider I ever saw came rushing out towards me. Holy cow this thing was huge! I'm talking Old School silver dollar sized. I screamed to Tyson to kill it, and as he rushed to get some toilet paper I tried to deter the scary bug away from the couch. In the end, Tyson wasn't fast enough and I grabbed and used a shoe that Tyson had flung to me and smashed the evil bug. Yuck. Even though he was smashed, I still made Tyson give it a watery grave in the toilet.


Then today I kept getting attacked by more spiders and bugs. I was sitting on the couch and then suddenly I felt something on my arm. I looked down and there was another spider. This happened more than once today! What is the deal, YUCK! I absolutely hate spiders. I'm a firm believer that the only good spiders are dead spiders. I'm starting to get pretty paranoid by these creepy guys. I always check our covers and sheets before going to bed now. I've even started to search the internet to find out what kind of spiders are native to Washington. Bad news, I found out that we have an "aggresive house spider". Yep, that is the name, aggressive. I bet that is the one that attacked us during our movie night. Anyway, hopefully you all have been enjoying a spider free fall. I'm hoping that the other spiders in the area saw what we've been doing to their little friends and have decided to haunt someone else's home...or maybe they will come after me for revenge. Let's hope it isn't the latter. eek.

Happy Birthday Baby Kallen!

I'm sorry it has been so long since I have posted. We were so busy there for a few weeks going on vacation and celebrating Kallen's birthday. Then, I just kept getting sidetracked and never posted. But no more...these are almost a month old, but here are pictures from Kallen's first birthday.

I still can't believe the little guy is a whole year old. I look at him and realize that he isn't my little baby boy anymore...he's a little boy. He zooms around the house now and gets into everthing! He climbs stairs and cruises everywhere. Sometimes it amazes me at how fast he can move and all the little crevices and corners he can get into. He no longer eats baby food, preferring instead to eat everything we eat (which sometimes isn't good since we don't eat so well.) And there isn't any more quiet snuggles with mommy. It's kind of sad. He'll never be my little baby ever again. But you know, its good that he is growing up. I know there are so many more fun things to look forward to now that he is getting older. So I guess I'll just have to remember all the good baby memories and be happy with the upcoming new memories that we are about to have with him.

Here are the cupcakes that I made for his birthday and some pictures of Kallen waiting to dig into one of them. Isn't he cute in his 1st birthday hat? I couldn't believe that he kept it on the whole time. He usually hates hats and I have to fight with him to keep them on...but maybe he sensed that this hat was special. I don't know. Either way, it always makes me smile to see him in this little hat.




I know that he should have probably only had one candle on his cake for his first birthday, but I wanted to use a whole bunch so they would show up in the videos we were taking. Kind of sad huh...I do things so they look good in pictures. We got a new camcorder for his birthday, so this was the first time we had used it...so I had to make sure that it looked good right? Well, I wish I could have posted some of the video we took, but I haven't gotten the software yet that allows me to edit it on our computer...so you all will have to wait for those.



Here is the little guy digging in. He was very slow and methodical at the beginning, but then he just started tearing the cupcake apart. The funny part was that he didn't really like eating it, but he sure did like smearing it everywhere. Funny kid.

Hey, want to know a secret? I chose to have his birthday party over at my parents house instead of ours for one big reason. I knew that he would make a mess with his cake and I didn't want to clean it up! If my Mom reads this, I know I'm going to be in big trouble, because she was the one who ended up cleaning it all up. Oh well, after looking at these pictures, I think everyone will agree with me that I made a good choice and it was worth the risk of my Mothers disgruntlement. He, he.





If you look closely at this picture you will notice that Kallen has frosting shoved all the way up his nose. You might think he did this himself, but he didn't. Good ol' Dad decided that Kallen wasn't making enough of a mess and decided to help out. He smeared that cupcake all over Kallen's face and in the process shoved it up his nose. If you couldn't tell, Kallen was not too happy about it. I can't blame him, I don't think I'd like my cupcake shoved up my nose. Silly Daddy.



Here Kallen is waiting to open his presents. I think he enjoyed the wrapping paper, the balloons and ribbon much more than the presents.







This has got to be the best part of the whole night. Tyson loved that we got Kallen helium balloons, because he wanted to use them to make his voice really high. From the very first moment we bought those balloons, he was after me to let him try using one...I kept telling him he would have to wait. So he did...he was very patient. After Kallen had opened all his presents, Daddy got his turn. Here is a video to show off Daddy's stuff.
